MSU again named one of nation鈥檚 top military-friendly online colleges

STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥擬ississippi State is once again being recognized for its military-friendliness and accessible, quality distance education programs.
MSU is being honored by SR Education Group as one of the nation鈥檚 top military-friendly online colleges, coming in at No. 16 in the organization鈥檚 鈥淵ellow Ribbon鈥 rankings. MSU also is listed No. 9 for the most affordable military-friendly online bachelor鈥檚 degree. The rankings were calculated using data from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs GI Bill Comparison Tool, which evaluates military culture, online support, flexibility and financial assistance.
鈥淔or many of our current service members, distance education is by far their best option to earn a degree,鈥 said Brian Locke, director of MSU鈥檚 G.V. 鈥淪onny鈥 Montgomery Center for America鈥檚 Veterans. 鈥淢any of them need the flexibility that distance education provides, which we can give them while maintaining the highest quality and academic excellence for their desired course of study. I feel strongly that it is our obligation to do everything we can to assist these students with earning their degree from Mississippi State.鈥
With a long-standing legacy of support for military-connected students, MSU is consistently recognized as a military-friendly university. MSU was designated a 鈥淧urple Heart University鈥 in 2015 by the Military Order of the Purple Heart for outstanding service to military veterans, service members, dependents and survivors.
MSU is also recognized on a regular basis for the quality and affordability of its online degree programs, are administered through the MSU Center for Distance Education. In the most recent U.S. News & World Report rankings, MSU has three online programs ranked in the top 50 nationally. The university鈥檚 Distance MBA program has been ranked in the top 30 nationally for four consecutive years.
